Nursing alumnae’s HIV program makes an IMPACT

March 30, 2010

Yvonne Jones, a graduate of Temple’s nursing school in 1984, has been running Urban Solutions, Inc. for nearly 20 years.  Originally started in South Philly as a nurse-run, community-based clinic in 1993,  it has grown to provide services city-wide, and has a special focus on helping children and adolescents who are HIV positive.

At a ceremony last week, Jones’ organization received GlaxoSmithKline’s 13th Annual IMPACT Award, and a prize of $40,000.  According to a press relese from GSK, “The nonprofit recipients were selected for having a significant impact on its area communities by providing access to proactive and effective healthcare services.”

Congrats to Yvonne! Read more about her organization, Urban Solutions, Inc.
