Podiatry resident heads to Haiti

February 2, 2010

Next week, Sebastian Demoiny,  a fourth year resident at the School of Podiatry, will join hundreds of other doctors in Haiti to provide care for victims of the earthquake last month.

He and a team of 15 people from a number of different medical disciplines will

spend a week in Haiti, performing surgeries and wound care to those rescued from the rubble.

“There are people there with crush injuries and fractures, so we will be there repairing and revising older surgeries,” he said.

Born in Belgium, Demoiny is fluent in both English and French, and will also help out with translating when needed.
