A bad trip…

August 10, 2009

Models at the Fall 2009 fashion shows wore heels so high, many had to take them off halfway through their walk down the runway, and a few even tripped.  Check out this video of New York magazine staffers trying to walk down the street in wild shoes like these:

They’re interesting to look at, but according to Temple podiatrist Tracey Vlahovic, wearing heels like these can lead to a number of foot problems, such as bunions, hammer toes, neuroma, Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis.  Her advise is to stay away from shoes like these altogether, but knowing that many women agree with the adage, pain is beauty, she says stretching the Achilles tendon can help, and advises her patients to only wear heels for a few hours at a time.
